Today I experienced the green and lush plains of Derbyshire in England as I trundled along the path to transact some banking business. Children mingled with their parents scampering around, dogs bounding up and down giving chase to the ball of their owners. The air was crisp, the fulsomeness of the summer sun blazing right through with a delightful intensity.
Suddenly my bliss was punctuated with a comma, a question, will my country Nigeria ever rise to such plains? One where tranquility is the other of the day, where hard work pays, security is assured and the wealth of the nation is readily accessible to all.
One incident crystalised my morning thoughts, news filtering through a text that someone I knew, trained and equipped in the United Kingdom, who relocated back to Nigeria now lay dead on the cold slab of the Hospital morgue. My thoughts go to the inadequate healthcare facilities of our Nation and I wonder whether my colleague made the right decision in returning to Nigeria.
