President George Bush Passes On...

In 1971 a young sauve gentleman, Olasupo Ojedokun recently appointed the Acting Director-General of the Nigerian Institute of International Affairs was barely 33 years old. One of the highlight of his short but remarkable tenure was the privilege of playing host to President George Walker Bush who was later to become the 41st President of the United States of America.

At the time Mr Bush was the United States Ambassador to the United Nations.  In 1972 when my father passed on the shock and grief of my mother received a soothing balm from Mr Bush who sent a telegram all the way from the United States. Such was the humanity and care of a man who passed on yesterday. Fare the well Mr President!
