Sowore of Sahara Reporters laments As Court Freezes his N236m

Omoyele Sowore of Sahara Reporters laments As Nigerian Court Freezes 236 Million Naira in his Nigerian Account.
This is even as the Court plans to freeze another Million dollars in his US account. {see above}
Nigeria Senate President, Bukola Saraki won a 4 billion naira judgement against Sahara reporters which they failed to pay.
Saraki therefore applied for and got a temporary garnishee order against Sahara reporters accounts at UBA and GTB.
Elombah.com yesterday reported that an Ilorin High Court, presided over by Justice Adeyinka Oyinloye, has reportedly freezed the bank accounts of online news media, Sahara Reporters.
Documents seen by Elombah.com show the court gave the order on Tuesday, July 25.
The Senate President had, through his lawyer, Babatunde Olomu, asked for the intervention of the court following over a series of libelous stories published against Saraki on Sahara Reporters in between September and December 2015.
Both Sowore and Sahara Reporters were joined as defendants in the suit marked as KWS/23/2017.
The publisher have reportedly not been able to access their bank accounts since the court’s decision.
On Wednesday, June 28, the court had ruled that Sowore pay a sum of N4 billion as damage to Saraki for the alleged libelous publications.
The Senate President had also vowed that he will not spare any legal efforts and expenses, both in Nigeria and abroad, necessary to recover every kobo of the cost awarded in his favour from Sowore.
“The money will also be used to support genuine publications whose owners are struggling to pay salaries of workers or meet their ever rising running cost. Part of the money will also be channelled to help lawyers who have been providing pro bono services to litigants, particularly, on cases bothering on enforcement of fundamental human rights,” a statement by the Senate President said.
But lamenting the development in a statement, sowore said Sowore he is yet to obtain a copy of the court order.
He stated: "We have the reason the "Jankara" Judge in Ilorin procured by Bukola Saraki could not produce the record of proceedings in his own court.
"The Chief Judge of Kwara state upon receipt of a copy of Femi Falana's letter requesting the records has found out that the "records" were incomplete.
"For instance, the judge, Sikiru Oyinloye had adjourned his last sitting of the case to affirm "proof of service" but along the line, lawyers loyal to Saraki, led by Yusuf Alli (SAN) approached him, handed him a written judgement and told him to go ahead and give a judgment awarding N4billion against SaharaReporters. When Oyinloye told them it will be tough for him, they promised to "handle the consequences" using their connection and contacts within the Nigerian judiciary. At the point of giving that ruling, Oyinloye had not even ascertained proof of service of the summons of the purported libel lawsuit against SaharaReporters and myself, but yet he creatively issued a judgment without fulfilling the processes he laid down in his previous rulings on the matter.
"Our lawyers have now been grudgingly told to come to get the available "record of proceedings" by 11 am tomorrow.
"As you all know, this is a long existential battle to liberate the robbed and the oppressed against whom a crooked judiciary and rogue lawyers have been arrayed over the years in every corner of our nation and which have long been championed by our collective efforts.
"But rest assured that even the most noxious of political crooks are dead scared of the power of interaction of the oppressed that could remotely provoke action."

Ill Health: I Was Shocked When I Saw Buhari In London – Governor Okorocha

Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State has said that he was shocked when he saw President Muhammadu Buhari in London on Sunday.

He said the president has lost weight.

The governor, who along with some All Progressives Congress leaders visited the President on Sunday, said his surprise was because of the rumours and conspiracy theories that had made the rounds regarding President Buhari’s health.

Since May 7 when the President flew to London for medical treatment, he hasn’t been seen in public many people claiming his health had declined.

Governor Okorocha explained during an appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today that in Buhari’s absence, there was a lot of confusion and speculations about his health and it took the Acting President Yemi Osinbajo, who visited the President on July 11, to reassure Nigerians that the President was in good spirits.
“Even then, most people didn’t believe it. But to my greatest shock, when I arrived in London with the Party Chairman and the governors of Kano, Kaduna, Kogi, Nasarawa and the Minister of Transport, we saw a man that was full of humour as usual and we were wondering whether it is the same person that they are talking about,” he said.
“All I can say is that Mr President is in good health, he is not on life support and he will soon be back. And he is not in the hospital. I was thinking I was going to see him in the hospital, but he is not even in the hospital. He was at home relaxing and having a good time.”
The governor said considering how healthy the President looked, he was surprised he had not already returned to Nigeria.

He said,
“When I made enquiries as to why he is still waiting, why he is still not back home, all I got as an answer is that he is just taking some vitamins to increase his appetite to regain his lost weight.
“But I think the man is in good spirits and I think the prayers of Nigerians have worked to a great extent and President Buhari is coming back in full force to resume his work. What Nigerians should be talking about now is what should be his next line of action.”
Asked when the President was likely to return, he said,
“The Buhari I saw two days ago will be back to Nigeria as soon as possible. I don’t think that he will stay longer than necessary, unless for some other reasons. I saw a man that was quite healthy, in high spirits and very sound – except for the fact that he has lost a bit of weight.”

Biblical Dating

We may define biblical dating as a method of introduction and carrying out of a pre-marital relationship between a single man and a single woman:
1. That begins (maybe) with the man approaching and going through the woman's father or family;
2. that is conducted under the authority of the woman's father or family or church; and
3. that always has marriage (or at least a determination regarding marriage to a specific person) as its direct goal.

The Scriptural support for the idea of biblical dating is largely by example and implication. We will look at a number of passages over the course of our discussions that support various aspects of biblical dating, but for the moment, let me just give you some references to study:
· 1 Corinthians 6:9-7:19 (command to be pure, seriousness of sexual sin and instructions regarding marriage)
· 1 Thessalonians 4:1-8 (do not wrong or defraud one another in relationships — by implying a relationship or commitment by your words or conduct that does not actually exist)
· Song of Solomon 2:7 ("do not awaken love before it pleases" — i.e. before the proper time, meaning marriage)
· Proverbs 6:20-7:27 (warning to avoid sexual sin and foolish relationships)
· James 1:13-15 (temptation is to be taken very seriously)
· Romans 13:8-14 (love others, work for their soul's good; don't look to please self)
· Romans 14:1-15:7 (favor others, not self ... value what's good to their souls)
· 1 Timothy 5:1-2 (treat single women as sisters in Christ, with absolute purity)
· Titus 2:1-8 (young men and women should focus on self-control/godliness)
· John 14:15 (if you love Christ, you will obey His commands — read: above your own desires — and live biblically)
Modern Dating
We may basically define modern dating as a method of introduction and carrying out of a pre-marital relationship between a single man and a single woman:
1. that begins with either the man or the woman initiating with the other;
2. that is conducted outside the formal oversight or authority of either person's family or church; and
3. that may or may not have marriage as its goal and is often purely "recreational" or "educational."
Now, the biblical support for the modern approach to dating. That was it. There isn't any. The very idea of extended romantic or sexual involvement outside of marriage doesn't even appear in Scripture unless it is described as illicit (sinful). Furthermore, it doesn't even appear in any society, western or otherwise, in any systematic way until the 20th century. While the principles supporting biblical dating have their beginnings with the very structure of the family, modern dating has its origins with the sexual revolution of the 1960s. It is brand new, and yet, seemingly, it is all we know.

Differences Between Modern Dating and Biblical Dating
So what's the real difference? Here are some fundamentals:
Modern dating philosophy assumes that there will be several intimate romantic relationships in a person's life before marriage. In fact, it advocates "playing the field" in order to determine "what one wants" in a mate. Biblical dating has as its goal to be emotionally and physically intimate with only one member of the opposite sex ... your spouse.
Modern dating tends to be egalitarian (no differences between men and women in spiritual or emotional "wiring" or God-given roles). Biblical dating tends to be complementarian (God has created men and women differently and has ordained each of these spiritual equals to play different and valuable roles in the church and in the family).
Modern dating tends to assume that you will spend a great deal of time together (most of it alone). Biblical dating tends to encourage time spent ingroup activities or with other people the couple knows well.
Modern dating tends to assume that you need to get to know a person more deeply than anyone else in the world to figure out whether you should be with him or her. The biblical approach suggests that real commitment to the other person should precede such a high level of intimacy.
Modern dating tends to assume that a good relationship will "meet all my needs and desires," and a bad one won't — it's essentially a self-centered approach. Biblical dating approaches relationships from a completely different perspective — one of ministry and service and bringing glory to God.
Modern dating tends to assume that there will be a high level of emotional involvement in a dating relationship, and some level of physical involvement as well. Biblical dating assumes no physical intimacy and more limited emotional intimacy outside of marriage.
Modern dating assumes that what I do and who I date as an adult is entirely up to me and is private (my family or the church has no formal or practical authority). Biblical dating assumes a context of spiritual accountability, as is true in every other area of the Christian life.
Basically, we can make three general statements about modern dating vs. biblical dating in terms of their respective philosophies:

1. Modern dating seems to be about "finding" the right person for me (as my friend Michael Lawrence has written on this site, "Stop Test-Driving Your Girlfriend"); biblical dating is more about "being" the right person to serve my future spouse's needs and be a God-glorifying husband or wife.
2. In modern dating, intimacy precedes commitment. In biblical dating, commitment precedes intimacy.
3. The modern dating approach tells us that the way to figure out whether I want to marry someone is to act like we are married. If we like it, we make it official. If we don't, then we go through something emotionally — and probably physically — like a divorce. In biblical dating, Scripture guides us as to how to find a mate and marry, and the Bible teaches, among other things, that we should act in such a way so as not to imply a marriage-level commitment until that commitment exists before the Lord.

Staff Quarters Two….

The Sunday morning emerged bathed in an intensity of sunshine so powerful that its rays blinded me as I levered open one of my shut eyelids.  The sun streaked through the gaps of the drapes that afforded me privacy.  Strewn across my University apportioned guesthouse suite where I made abode for two years, were my possessions.  Finally, my flat was ready, located within the Staff Quarters 2 nestled atop the heights of Soca, bordering Macmillan Publishing house and surrounded by a few factories.

I had collapsed in a heap on my king sized bed the night before as I sought to pack all my worldly possessions in a discernable heap. Some of the students of the Christian Student fellowship in the University Chapel had agreed to join the advance brigade to clean my new flat and render it habitable.  I was reeking with anticipation, I had agreed to vacate the relative certainty of the guesthouse suite for what might be uncertain, adventurous and expense laden habitation.  The new flat contained three nicely laid out bedrooms, all en-suite, a wide expanse for a living room with toilet facilities adjourning and linked at the other end to a spacious kitchen twinned with a store. I had had nightmares of water not flowing into the flat but all that was put to bed when my earlier reconnaissance revealed my fears were misplaced.

I was sad to leave behind a retinue of staff led by Mr. ‘Tunde and a place that had served me well in proximity as well as convenience but I was also glad to be moving to a place where more of my privacy would be assured.

Leadership Qualities In You...

The Leadership Qualities In You…The Text of My Address to King's College Boys 13 July 2017

I greet you all today and ask you to accompany me on this brief pep talk that you may be inspired and encouraged. I am Olu Ojedokun of the 1977 to 1984 set (Panes House). I have from Nottingham, England a doctorate in Law, Ethics and International Relations, I am a Barrister and Solicitor of the Nigerian Supreme Court and work as a missionary and lecturer at Lead City University, Ibadan. I wish to thank the School Management, Ashley-Dejo who was my Assistant on the leadership of the King’s College Students’ Council and Ken Ekwueme who was my school son for this opportunity.

I remember it is on the fading green and dust smothered fields of King’s College that my younger brother Adebowale found his mastery and leadership qualities. Whilst I was content to engage in fitful romances with ‘power’ on the Students’ Council, he excelled by playing at the highest levels for the School team. He was a defender of no mean feat and with the advantage that his height of over 6 feet 3 inches conferred; the dominance in the air followed. His athleticism also allowed him to marshal the central defence effortlessly.

I am also compelled to pay tribute to Terrance Onyewuenyi, the School Captain of the 1978/79 academic session. He was the ultimate all rounder!  He was an athlete of the highest calibre, who featured in cricket, hockey, the sprints and other sports and yet left the School with the best of grades, allowing him to study Medicine at University of Lagos. It was for boys like this that school colours were invented, the honours given to those with exceptional achievements in the field of sports. He led on the field and in every part of his life, he lost his life in Takwa Bay, Lagos while trying to save another from drowning, and this was the hallmark of School Captain Terrance Onyewuenyi, a man of blessed memory.

Leadership is an interesting topic and I chose to boil it down to Leadership by Position, by Function and by Calling.  Lois Ehiguese, my student at the University gives a summary as follows:

Leadership as a Function
A leader is a person who directs, instructs, conducts, guides, accommodates his followers. It means to direct, It means to guide, It means to instruct, It means to correct.

Leadership as a Position
It means according to the rank, It means the senior, It means there is a President, Vice President and General secretary which governs the organisation.

Leadership as a Calling
It means such an individual has heard from the Lord, and is a Pastor in the ministry. Has decided to take the burden of the members, interceding on their behalf. For example Samuel in the Bible.

But it does not matter how you get there, you must remember you all have the capacity and potential to lead.

Our School song states: ‘This is what they teach in the good old school "Only by obedience may you learn to rule". If you fail look closely, seek the reason why. You are power to conquer if you only try. Others went before you and attained the light. Where they wait to cheer you, victors in the fight. When the call is sounded all must answer "HERE"! Voice and bearing showing neither shame nor fear Pointing to our honour, which untarnished stands Bright as when we took it from our founder's hands.’

You have must realised that more than any time in recent history, Nigeria's destiny is not of your own choosing. Particularly the challenges we face with insecurity, kidnappings and the lot. You did not seek nor did you provoke an assault on your freedom and your way of life as young boys. You did not expect nor did you invite a confrontation with such evil that pervades our society today. Yet you must as future leaders hold on and believe that the true measure of a people's strength is how they rise to master that moment when it does arrive.

I draw from a parody of Thomas Jefferson’s quote that says “We must not be afraid to follow the truth wherever it may lead. Scientific truth enobles us, it tells us who we are, where we have been and where we are going. I believe the truth will only be found when all scientists are free to pursue it.  You must never forget that decisions are made by those who show up, by those who are punctual, by those who are ready.

What will be the next thing that challenges you, Wole? That makes you go farther and work harder? Do you know that when smallpox was eradicated, it was considered the single greatest humanitarian achievement of the last century? Surely you can do it again, as we did in the times when our eyes looked towards the heavens and, with outstretched fingers, we touched the face of God. As I end today, I want you to leave this hall, these grounds never doubting that that a small group of thoughtful and committed people can change the world. Do you know why? Because it's the only thing that ever has.

I suggest that the grounds, class rooms and dormitories of King’s College are too crowded with leaders this morning, but I think that every time you as students of King’s College, Lagos think you have measured your capacity to meet a challenge, you must look up and be reminded that that your capacity may well be limitless. This is a time for King’s College heroes. You must do what is hard. You will achieve what is great. This is a time for King’s College and you must reach for the stars.
